Courts and forums

Your matter may belong in the onshore Dubai Courts, the common-law DIFC Courts, the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, the federal courts or an arbitral tribunal. Choosing the right forum early, and checking any jurisdiction or arbitration clause in your contract, often decides how fast and how cheaply a dispute ends.

How a case runs

  • Case review: we read your documents, test the evidence and give an honest view of your chances
  • Pre-action steps: legal notice, payment order or settlement negotiation where they make sense
  • Filing and pleadings: statements of claim or defence, expert requests and evidence bundles
  • Hearings and judgment: advocacy at first instance, appeal and cassation
  • Enforcement: turning a judgment or award into payment through the execution courts

UAE arbitration is governed by Federal Law No. 6 of 2018. Arbitration can be faster and more private than court, but only if the arbitration agreement is valid, so we check it before anything else.

Court representation. Court representation is provided by the licensed advocates of our partner firm, ABR Advocates & Legal Consultants, who appear before all UAE courts including the Federal Court of Cassation. Juris Prime Legal coordinates your file, documents and strategy alongside them.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a court case take in Dubai?

A straightforward first-instance case often takes a few months; appeals and expert reports add time. We give you a realistic timeline after reviewing your documents.

Should I choose court or arbitration?

If your contract has a valid arbitration clause, the dispute usually must go to arbitration. Without one, court is often cheaper; arbitration suits confidential, technical or international disputes.

Can a foreign judgment be enforced in the UAE?

Often yes, subject to reciprocity and the conditions of UAE procedural law. Arbitral awards from New York Convention countries are generally enforceable.
